Scholarship Application – 2026

The Kiwanis Club of Belmar offers one $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior of Alameda International High School who has shown strong commitment to community service and academics.

About Kiwanis International

Kiwanis International is founded on the principle of community service, with a special focus on supporting children and youth locally and globally. The scholarship recipient selection process is closely aligned with these values, ensuring that awardees reflect the ideals and mission of Kiwanis International.

Selection Criteria

The primary criteria for selection include sustained involvement in community service and strong academic achievements. Recipients must demonstrate their dedication to these areas, which are central to the principles of Kiwanis International.

Required Attachments

  • A personal letter of no more than 500 words, written by the applicant, describing why they deserve the scholarship. The letter should focus on community service activities, academic record, and other relevant experiences.
  • One letter of recommendation from a current or former high school administrator, teacher, counselor, staff member, or an individual connected to the applicant’s community service activities.
  • The applicant’s latest high school transcript (a copy is acceptable), which must include the school’s name, courses taken, and corresponding grades.

Interview Process

Depending on the number of applicants and the quality of the applications received, a short, personal interview may be requested.

Notification and Award Presentation

The winning applicant, as well as their high school counselor, will be notified by letter no later than May 4, 2026. To celebrate the scholarship award, the recipient may be invited to attend a Kiwanis Club of Belmar meeting, either in person or via a Zoom call, to address the Club members. Meetings are typically held on the first and third Thursdays at 11:30 am. The Club will coordinate with the winner to select a suitable date. Additionally, the recipient agrees to allow the Kiwanis Club of Belmar Foundation to use their name to publicize the scholarship award.

Award Distribution

The scholarship award will be sent directly to the Financial office of an accredited trade school, college, or university, once the recipient’s enrollment and registration have been certified to the Kiwanis Club of Belmar Foundation.
